LFC, who couldn't beat a struggling Reading in their last away match hit six past Newcastle at St James' park. Two goals from Daniel Sturridge and Jordan Henderson and one each from Daniel Agger and Fabio Borini told the sorry one-sided story of what could only be described as an abject surrender: Newcastle's biggest home defeat since 1925.

Painfully embarrassing that was, to the Magpies. Not much can be said, the results are there for all to see, even Alan Pardew went ahead to admit that the humbling defeat puts his future with the Magpies is at risk.

"I have no problem getting the flak, I accept that. That performance was not one of my team's. My teams are renowned for being organised and being on the front foot and you could not say that about my team today. I will take responsibility for that."-Alan Pardew

"No spirit, no hunger, no desire: an embarrassing day for Newcastle."- Alan Shearer
